About Romo's Homemaker and Auction Centre
Romos Homemaker and Auction Centre is a family business run by John (Romo) and Sally Rominski. The business started in Rutherford approximately three (3) years ago. Prior to that Romo had a demolition yard in Swansea called Lake Macquarie Secondhand. He operated the business for approximately eight (8) years and was very well known, not just in the area of the business but much farther afield due to his extensive and interesting stock. He sold anything from bedknobs to bridge timbers. An example of his range of varied products can be seen throughout the vineyards in Pokolbin.
The large timbers seen at Petersons Champagne House were bridge timbers compliments of Romo, and if you take a look at the Theme Rooms for accommodation at Casurina, you will notice items such as timber stairs (from an old hotel) in Casanovas Loft, the leadlight in the Federation Room and numerous other items supplied from Romos Demolition Yard. The list goes on.
Romo decided that due to the growing trend towards DIY home renovating and auctions he would look into combining the two. His idea being that we would be a one stop shop for the handyman and that they would be able to purchase their products at auction at an extremely competative price.
After one year renting in the Old National Textiles Building and many successful actions later, we decided to move our business to a more central, modern area. This is when we purchased sheds in Shipley Drive, Rutherford. We have never looked back.
After much hard work, Romo succeded in sourcing a large range of products and continues to keep his eye open for a 'bargain' on a weekly basis. So our auctions are always changing. You just never know what goodies will come up for auction.
After extensive advertising in numerous papers Romo realised the need for our style of business in the country areas.
We will continue to source items for renovators and will endeavour to always offer prices that are second to none.
